The tourist complexes are scanty in Samaná. Only in a few places credit cards are accepted, because of this it is advisable to bring some cash. The airports are very small and the fleets of huge planes cannot operate in these airports. Only small planes and light aircrafts are those that make domestic flights to Samaná’s peninsula. The aim on the part of the Dominican government is to extend these infrastructures and to increase the tourist industry in this zone. At present time an international airport is being constructed in the zone, which is hoped to bring the long awaited development that this province needs.

Called “the fairest land on the face with the earth,” the Samana Peninsula is known by Dominicans in addition to guests as well as the prettiest part from the island of Hispaniola. It is the jewel in the crown of Republica Dominicana. Along with much with the Caribbean now well-developed, the peninsula’s perfect beaches and sparsely-populated, mountainous landscape resplendent along with an abundance of tropical vegetation are not only a welcome change, but are all that remain of the right magic of the tropical Caribbean.

Samana is the real Caribbean, the Caribbean of 40 years ago, the Caribbean of which awakens memories of a bygone era when each tropical shore, each and every bend in an ancient dirt road brought new adventure and a wondrous sense of anticipation exploring a developing region that had apparently shielded itself from the stress and pressures of contemporary life. Samana these days is even now that; a return to a simplier and simpler place and time where the magic of discovery still awaits our travelers and tourists.
